Yacht classification
A yacht (From Dutch Jacht meaning "hunt") was originally defined as a light, fast sailing vessel used to convey important persons. In later parlance, the definition came to cover a wider range of vessels, propelled by sail, power, or both and used for pleasure cruising and/or yacht racing. Often, non-sailing yachts are also referred to as motor yachts, to differentiate them from yachts designed for use with sail power. Sailing yachts fall into four basic categories: 'Day Sailing', 'Weekender', 'Cruiser' and 'Racer'. Day Sailing yachts Day Sailing yachts are small sub-6 metre (20 foot) vessels. Sometimes called dinghies, they often have a retractable keel, centerboard, or daggerboard. Day sailing...
Buying a yacht tips
New -vs- Used Consider your option of new or used carefully. There are very good values to be had in used boats. More first time buyers purchase new boats, while experienced boaters more often buy used. And with good reason. Experienced boaters know that there is better value dollar for dollar in many used boats than new ones. They've already had the experience of taking a big hit in depreciation, along with the high cost of financing involved in a new boat purchase. To help decide which is right for you, consider the following. When we track the depreciation curve for many of the most popular builder's models by determining the net annual loss in resale value, we find that the higher the vessel...

Sail Boat Insurance Basics
When it comes to insuring things those we own against loss or damage we tend to want the very best. After all, we worked hard to get what we have and we all want to make sure that we keep it and if loss or damage does occur then we want a way to replace it. Sailboats are no exception to this rule. As one of the more expensive toys we can own, Sailboats need to be insured just like we would our cars and our homes. The major difference between boat insurance and car insurance is the amount of coverage a policy provides. This variation is simplistic in nature but can be very difficult if one does not know the very basis of the issue. The basis of sailboat insurance is the different things that can...
Out of Africa - An Improbable Tail
ScottishA few weeks ago there was a small stir of excitement in our area, which briefly lit up the gloom of our northern Scottish winter like the Northern Lights, which are quite visible to us at this latitude. Apparently a man - a Marine, no less - had walked, wearing nothing but a grin and a beard straight out of Lord of the Rings, from the south of England into Scotland, up past Loch Ness and the Highlands where I live, and on to the very northernmost point, John O'Groats - in winter. A Scottish winter, at that. I'm not sure where his starting point was but he must have walked about six hundred miles. Forest Gump would have been impressed. It was either a very brave, or foolhardy course of action...

Belize Cayes - A World Away From Reality
As the engine roar melted to a kitten purr and our boat nuzzled up to the Caye Caulker pier, we did a quick inventory check. Dancing palms, tick. Sun bleached beach, tick. Island motto, "Go Slow", painted lazily on a signpost stuck in the sand, tick. I gave my partner in crime a private smile. This was the place. We'd escaped...for now.Bobbing up and down against a tiny Belizean island on the Caribbean Sea wasn't in the original script. The plan had been to fly into Belize for a quick taste of eco-adventure before slipping over the Guatemalan border. But we'd got greedy, and four days later, we were still there with our hands caught in the action jar. Jungle hikes, eco-tours, Jaguar spotting, cave...

Affordable Sport Fishing
Many of us dream of sportfishing but how many of us really have the means to pursue such an elitist sport? Here in Hawaii, the cost of chartering a boat for a day could easily run around $600-$900 and most will agree that owning a boat, even a relatively small one, is the proverbial "hole in the water."Over the last few years, a quiet version of sportfishing has evolved into a class almost unto itself, kayak fishing. Although kayak fishing may have been around for years, the innovations and trophies being pursued these days have been turning heads in the fishing world along while attracting ranks of new paddling anglers!Take the "tupperware" kayaks that have long been the durable go-anywhere beach...

Water skiing is a very common hobby today. It is popular in many regions throughout the world. One of the most important factors for water skiers is their boat.Ski boats come in a variety of shapes and styles. Usually a boat for water skiing has a very shallow hull. How To Produce Passive Income Successfully With Resale Rights
Ah, yes. Slap up a website, then sit back and let the money roll in. Wouldn't it be great? It's doable. There are lots of online entrepreneurs who have put up websites containing Google AdSense links, and started making thousands of dollars a month in highly competitive keyword niches. So why aren't you a billionaire yet? If it really were that easy for most people, we'd all have private jets and fly to our island homes.Completely passive income means you do literally nothing beyond the initial effort to set up an income stream. That's quite rare. Even with an AdSense-driven site, you have to work to get it noticed, drive traffic to it, etc.You can get very close to passive, though, with affiliate...

The Magi - Ancient Magicians
Long before the ruthless Roman Empire walked the shores of what is now known as Great Britain, an ancient form of wisdom existed amongst the people who populated those ancient forests and mountains and its echo is still felt today.180,000 years before the present, the planet was at the end of the last interglacial period and traces of our ancient seafaring ancestors can be found today in caves along the coast of South Africa using red ochre and selecting specialist stone to make spears and other hand tools from small quarries along the coastlines. The use of these caves disappeared after 70,000 BP showing no further signs of occupation until around 12500 BP.The reason for this was the forming of ice...
Is a Boat Rental Club Right for You
Owning a boat is a dream for many Americans, but one that can turn into a nightmare of unforeseen costs. Many novice boaters don't realize all the costs associated with purchasing a boat and wind up with an expensive driveway ornament aside their car instead because they can't afford gas, insurance or the other myriad things boat owners must pay for.In recent years, enterprising business people have begun offering a solution for the high price of boat ownership: Boat rental clubs. These clubs rent out their fleet of boats to members on a daily, weekend or even monthly basis at a discounted cost. For example, one marina in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida charges non-members $329 to rent a 21-foot bow rider...

Brokerage Boats
Using agent assisted brokerage boats is a great way of selling and purchasing yachts. Yet for the benefit of the brokerage boats buyer or seller, it may be necessary outline the distinction between the 'brokerage boats/yachts' from the 'brokerage boat/yacht charter' first and foremost.Brokerage boat/yacht charter is the broker-assisted sale of charter times on boats/yachts. Brokerage boats/yachts, on the other hand, is the broker-assisted sale of the boats/yachts. These two distinct roles are not usually performed by a single broker, while, quite the opposite, these two brokerage tasks are carried out by the same brokerage company. Nonetheless, it is important to focus on the significant function of...
